Why we built a free, accurate lot size calculator for forex, metals, indices, crypto and stocks.

About LotSizeCalculatorForex.com

LotSizeCalculatorForex.com was built around a simple idea: position sizing should be the easiest part of trading, not the part people skip. Most retail traders lose money not because they can't read a chart, but because they size trades inconsistently — risking 0.5% on one setup and 4% on the next without really deciding to. This site exists to remove that inconsistency with a fast, free, accurate lot size calculator anyone can use before placing a trade.

Why we built a free lot size calculator

Position sizing sits at the center of risk management, yet it's usually done with a rough mental estimate, a half-remembered formula, or a spreadsheet that's slightly out of date. We wanted a tool that takes the account balance, risk percentage, entry and stop loss a trader already has in front of them, and returns the exact lot size, pip value, margin requirement and reward-to-risk ratio — instantly, correctly, and for more than just EUR/USD.

That meant building proper calculation logic per instrument type rather than one generic formula: forex majors and minors, JPY pairs, cross pairs that don't touch the US dollar at all, gold and silver, oil, major stock indices, crypto, and individual stocks all size positions differently, and a calculator that ignores those differences will quietly give wrong numbers.

Our approach to accuracy

We built the calculator's pip-value and margin formulas to match how brokers actually price each instrument type — using live exchange rates for currency pairs where the US dollar is the base currency, standard contract specifications for metals and indices, and direct share-based math for stocks rather than forcing everything into a "lot" that doesn't apply. Where true accuracy is impossible without a live data feed — cross pairs like EUR/GBP or GBP/JPY — the calculator says so on screen instead of quietly guessing.

Who this calculator is for

What this site is not

This is an educational calculator, not a broker, not a signal service, and not financial advice. We don't hold funds, execute trades, or recommend specific instruments, entries or directions. Every number on this site is a mathematical output based on the figures you enter — see our Disclaimer for the full detail.
